These Service Agreement Terms apply to all fire protection work performed by First National Fire System Ltd., operating as First National Fire Protection ("we", "us"). They supplement our Terms & Conditions and any signed quote or work order.
1. Scope of Work
Only the equipment, systems, and tasks specifically listed on the approved quote, work order, or invoice are covered by the services provided. Items not listed — including hidden components, non-accessible areas, or equipment outside the quoted scope — are excluded unless otherwise agreed in writing.
2. Compliance Standards
Work is performed in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including (as relevant to the scope):
- Ontario Fire Code (O. Reg. 213/07)
- NFPA 10 — Portable Fire Extinguishers
- NFPA 25 — Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems
- NFPA 96 — Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations
- NFPA 101 — Life Safety Code
- NFPA 17A — Wet Chemical Extinguishing Systems
- ULC S536 — Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems
- ULC S572 — Photoluminescent and Self-Luminous Signs and Path Marking Systems
- CSA C22.2 No. 141 — Emergency Lighting Equipment
3. Certificates of Inspection
Upon satisfactory completion of an inspection, we issue a Certificate of Inspection valid for one (1) year from the date of inspection, subject to any deficiencies being properly remediated. Certificates may be withheld if deficiencies impacting compliance remain unresolved, or if outstanding amounts are owed.
4. Deficiency Reporting
Deficiencies discovered during inspection are documented in the report and communicated to the Customer. Unless a separate quote is accepted, the Customer is responsible for remediation within the timeframe required by the applicable code or Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
5. Right to Refuse or Suspend Service
We reserve the right to refuse, pause, or terminate service where:
- Site conditions are unsafe for our technicians or subcontractors;
- Required access, utilities, or pre-inspection conditions are not met;
- The Customer's account is past due;
- The Customer engages in abusive, threatening, or unlawful conduct.
6. Insurance Disclosure
We maintain $2,000,000 Commercial General Liability insurance and Errors & Omissions coverage. Certificates of insurance are available on request.
7. WSIB Coverage
We maintain Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) coverage in good standing for all employees performing work in Ontario. WSIB clearance certificates are available on request.
8. Customer Obligations
- Provide unobstructed access to all systems, panels, devices, valves, and equipment to be inspected or serviced.
- Coordinate sprinkler water shutdowns and notify monitoring stations as required.
- Ensure kitchen hoods and cooking equipment are cleaned prior to suppression-system inspections.
- Notify us of building modifications, system changes, or known issues prior to service.
- Provide a knowledgeable site contact during scheduled work.
9. Emergency Service and After-Hours Rates
Standard business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, excluding statutory holidays. Service requested outside these hours is subject to after-hours rates and an emergency dispatch surcharge as quoted at the time of the call.
10. Warranty
Unless otherwise stated in writing, we warrant:
- Parts — 12 months from the date of installation, against defects in materials.
- Labour — 90 days from the date of service, against workmanship defects.
Warranties exclude damage caused by misuse, vandalism, unauthorized modification, environmental conditions, force majeure events, or failure to follow recommended maintenance schedules. Manufacturer warranties on equipment, where longer, will be passed through to the Customer.
