Fire Extinguisher Inspection
NFPA 10 compliant · Annual certified service · All extinguisher classes serviced and tagged same day.
What is Fire Extinguisher Inspection?
Fire extinguisher inspection is the annual certified service that keeps every portable fire extinguisher in your building ready to operate — and your building compliant with NFPA 10 and the Ontario Fire Code. Owners are responsible for monthly visual checks, but the certified inspection, recharge and tagging must be performed by a qualified technician at least every twelve months.
First National Fire Protection inspects, services and tags every class of fire extinguisher across Ontario — ABC dry chemical, CO₂, wet chemical Class K, clean agent, water mist and Class D. We carry replacement stock on every truck so any deficiency we find can be resolved in the same visit.
Multi-site portfolios benefit from our scheduled fire extinguisher inspection program: every unit barcoded, tracked, and re-served on schedule with one consolidated report.
Every Fire Extinguisher Inspection Visit Includes
Visual & Physical Inspection
Pressure gauge, pin, tamper seal, hose, nozzle, body condition and mounting verified per NFPA 10.
Weight & Pressure Check
Each cylinder weighed against manufacturer spec to confirm full agent charge.
Certified Service Tag
New dated tag applied, signed by the licensed technician — accepted by every Ontario AHJ.
Recharge on Site
Any partially discharged or low-pressure unit recharged on the same visit.
Replacement Stock
Common ABC, K-Class and CO₂ units available on the truck for immediate swap-out.
Inventory & Asset Tracking
Each extinguisher logged with location, serial, type and next-due date for portfolio reporting.
Ontario Fire Code & Insurer Requirements
Under NFPA 10 and the Ontario Fire Code, every commercial occupancy must have its portable fire extinguishers professionally inspected and tagged every twelve months, internally examined every six years, and hydrostatically tested every twelve years. An out-of-date or missing tag is one of the most common deficiencies cited by fire prevention officers in Ontario.
Insurers routinely deny claims when extinguishers are found to be out of service date. A current fire extinguisher inspection program is one of the cheapest, fastest ways to protect your coverage and your occupants.

“We had an unexpected city inspection at one of our short-term rental properties and discovered our fire safety systems were not up to code. First National Fire Protection responded immediately and was on-site within days. The service was thorough, informative, and efficient — exactly what we needed under pressure. We'll be using them for all annual inspections, repairs, and maintenance going forward. Highly recommend.”
