Backflow Preventer Installation
CSA B64.10 compliant · RP, DCVA & PVB assemblies · Permit submission and initial test included.
What is Backflow Preventer Installation?
Backflow preventer installation is the supply, permitted installation and initial certified test of the assembly that isolates your building's water systems from the municipal supply. Every fire sprinkler line, irrigation system, boiler and process-water connection in Ontario is required to have an appropriately rated backflow preventer installed per CSA B64.10 and the local municipal cross-connection by-law.
First National Fire Protection installs RP (reduced-pressure), DCVA (double-check) and PVB (pressure vacuum breaker) assemblies across Ontario. We pull the permit, install the assembly with the required clearances and drainage, perform the initial certified test and submit the test report to the municipality.
Whether you're hooking up a new sprinkler line, a boiler feed or an irrigation system, our backflow preventer installation team handles the entire scope so you don't have to coordinate three trades and a separate tester.
Every Backflow Preventer Installation Visit Includes
Hazard Assessment
Cross-connection survey to identify the correct assembly class (RP, DCVA, PVB) for each hazard.
Permit Submission
Municipal cross-connection permit prepared and submitted on the owner's behalf.
Assembly Installation
ULC-listed backflow assembly installed with proper clearances, drainage and shutoff valves.
Initial Certified Test
CSA B64.10-certified initial test performed on commissioning and report filed with the municipality.
Drainage Provisions
Air-gapped drain or floor drain provisions installed for RP relief discharge per CSA B64.10.
Tagging & Asset Register
Assembly tagged with install date, type, line size and entered into your annual-test reminder system.
Ontario Fire Code & Insurer Requirements
The Ontario Building Code 7.6, CSA B64.10 and local municipal by-laws (Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Ottawa and across Ontario) require a backflow preventer installation on every potentially-contaminating cross-connection. A missing or incorrect assembly can lead to water shutoff and significant liability if a contamination event occurs.
Our backflow preventer installation service includes the permit, the install, the initial test and the municipal submission — a complete one-call package.

“We had an unexpected city inspection at one of our short-term rental properties and discovered our fire safety systems were not up to code. First National Fire Protection responded immediately and was on-site within days. The service was thorough, informative, and efficient — exactly what we needed under pressure. We'll be using them for all annual inspections, repairs, and maintenance going forward. Highly recommend.”
