Emergency Lighting Installation
Ontario Fire Code & Building Code compliant · Battery, central inverter & generator-fed systems.
What is Emergency Lighting Installation?
Emergency lighting installation covers the design, supply and certified installation of the battery-backed lighting and exit signage that guides occupants out of your building during a power failure. Every commercial, industrial, multi-residential, healthcare and institutional occupancy in Ontario is required to have emergency lighting that provides at least 30 minutes of illumination on egress paths and at stairwells.
First National Fire Protection designs and installs emergency lighting systems across Ontario — local battery packs, remote heads, central inverter systems, generator-fed circuits and ISO 7010 pictograph exit signs. We perform a photometric assessment, place units to eliminate dark spots and install on circuits that survive the events that trigger emergency operation.
Every emergency lighting installation hand-over includes the documented logbook template, the photometric coverage map and the discharge test record — everything your AHJ and insurer expect on day one.
Every Emergency Lighting Installation Visit Includes

Remote Head Install
Dual-head remote fixtures positioned for stairwell, corridor and exit-door coverage.
ISO 7010 Exit Signage
Compliant 'running-man' pictograph exit signs supplied and installed throughout egress routes.
Central Inverter Option
Centralized inverter or generator-fed emergency lighting systems available for larger buildings.
Acceptance Discharge Test
Full 30-minute discharge test performed, documented and handed over to the building owner.
Ontario Fire Code & Insurer Requirements
The Ontario Building Code 3.2.7 and Ontario Fire Code mandate emergency lighting installation in every commercial, multi-residential, healthcare, industrial and institutional occupancy. Units must hold for a minimum of 30 minutes and exit signs must meet the updated ISO 7010 pictograph standard.
A poorly placed or under-sized emergency lighting installation creates dark spots on egress paths — one of the most cited deficiencies in fire prevention audits. Our photometric design catches the issue before installation.
