Backflow Preventer Repair
CSA B64.10-certified testers · Rebuild kits for every major brand · Municipal submission handled.
What is Backflow Preventer Repair?
Backflow preventer repair is the corrective work performed when an assembly fails its annual certified test — leaking relief valves, fouled check discs, failed shutoffs, broken air-gaps. A failed assembly is a non-compliance issue with your local municipal cross-connection by-law and must be repaired or replaced before the device is returned to service.
First National Fire Protection performs backflow preventer repair across Ontario on every assembly class — RP, DCVA, PVB and SVB — and on every major brand. Our CSA B64.10-certified testers carry brand-correct rebuild kits, so most failures can be repaired and re-tested on the same visit.
Where the assembly is end-of-life or damaged beyond rebuild, we replace it, perform the initial certified test and submit the report directly to your municipality — the same one-call process as our backflow installation service.
Every Backflow Preventer Repair Visit Includes
Failure Diagnosis
Test data reviewed and assembly inspected to identify failed component (relief, checks, shutoffs).
Rebuild Kit Installation
Brand-correct rebuild kit installed by certified tester — usually same visit as the failed test.
Component Replacement
Failed checks, relief valves and shutoffs replaced with manufacturer-listed parts.
Full Assembly Replacement
End-of-life assemblies replaced with appropriate class and line-size unit, permitted as required.
Re-Test & Certification
Post-repair certified test performed and report filed with the municipality.
Annual Reminder Service
Repaired assembly entered into your annual reminder system so next test is never missed.
Ontario Fire Code & Insurer Requirements
A failed backflow preventer is a direct violation of CSA B64.10 and your local municipal cross-connection by-law. Most municipalities (Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Ottawa) require the repair to be performed and a clean test report submitted within a defined window, or water service can be shut off.
Our backflow preventer repair service closes the loop — fast diagnosis, certified repair, post-repair test and municipal submission — so your property stays in compliance and your water service stays on.

“We had an unexpected city inspection at one of our short-term rental properties and discovered our fire safety systems were not up to code. We'll be using them for all annual inspections, repairs, and maintenance going forward. Highly recommend.”
