Commercial kitchen fires are one of the leading causes of property damage and business closure in Ontario. Your kitchen hood suppression system — the wet chemical system above your cooking equipment — is your primary defence. Ontario law requires it to be inspected every six months under NFPA 96 and the Ontario Fire Code.

First National Fire Protection provides semi-annual kitchen hood suppression inspections for restaurants, food service operations, institutional kitchens, and any commercial kitchen in Ontario. We service all major system brands and provide full documentation for your AHJ and insurance records.

What's Included in Our Kitchen Hood Suppression Inspection

  • Full inspection of all suppression nozzles (position, coverage, obstruction)
  • Inspection of detection system (fusible links, heat detectors)
  • Manual pull station inspection and testing
  • Fuel/power shut-off verification (gas valve, electrical interlock)
  • Wet chemical agent quantity check
  • Ansul cartridge and expellant gas check
  • Blow-off caps and duct inspection
  • Review of hood cleaning records
  • Inspection of portable Class K extinguisher (required adjacent to cooking equipment)
  • Semi-annual inspection report per NFPA 96
